Cregg Castle of Corandulla built in 1648 will soon be transformed into an Arts Venue by Galway based artist Alan Murray, making him the third generation of the Murray family to live in the castle. Alan is setting up Cregg Castle as a residency for Artists comprising of 9 bedrooms, some en-suite, outhouses and stables as studio space. – Each Artist will have a working and living space. The communal areas include a large internal studio, a large kitchen, Dining room and Living rooms. The gallery and workshop space will host exhibitions and events.
This is a great opportunity to join a team of like-minded Artists and become one of the key people to transform this beautiful Castle into an Arts Venue as well as a creative environment to live and work. The castle is now in need of some loving care mainly cleaning and redecorating. The aim is, as a team to work for a full week, on the accommodation areas and then move into the main common rooms.
The rent per week ranges from € 100 -120 inclusive of utility bills, with each artist volunteering to work one day per week on the venue.
There are nine residential places – available from May for a period of one year.
Artists can request the application form from alan.murrayartist@gmail.com .
Closing date is 20th April 2012.
