‘Cailleach Feasa’, an exhibition by Maria Noonan-McDermott opened last Friday (25th February) at the Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. The exhibition was eloquently Opened By Gail Quinn. The evening was very well attended despite it being election day.
‘The paintings have delightful titles, leading one into the childhood stories portrayed in rich textured oils. “Sacred River”, a reverent place which life revolved around, “Alley Cats” and “Minnie the Wildgoose” conjuring up a group of carefree children playing and then the slightly scary misty figure of “Tom Bones”,What was he really collecting?. “Chasing Dreams” sums up all our aspirations, so warm and happy while “Winter Tapestry” reminds us of the beauty of a winter scene, even if we didn’t think so at the time. These are a few of the 20 + images at this lovely exhibition and Maria was available on the opening night to tell the stories behind them.’
The exhibition runs until the 19th March 2011.
