Today (Sunday 11th April 2010) saw the official opening in Dún Laoghaire of the Dublin Painting & Sketching Club’s 132nd annual exhibition.
Being staged by the Dublin Painting & Sketching Club, a national artists’ organisation and one of Ireland’s oldest (founded 1874), this year’s exhibition features many fine works in all media. It includes oil and watercolour paintings, pastels and drawings by 79 Irish artists from Dublin and many parts of the country.
The artists, all members of the Club and among them some members of the Royal Hibernian Academy, are showing over 260 exhibits. Prices start at around €200 for a small watercolour or monotype. There are also some considerably more expensive works, including oils by member artists Tom Ryan PPRHA and Michael Gemmell.
The exhibition continues in County Hall, Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire until April 25th.
